Do I Need A Nutritional Plan?
Nutrition is such a critical part of our overall health, but it’s also a component that we often neglect when seeking answers to our health concerns. In part, this is because our nutritional habits are deeply ingrained and difficult to change.
At PMR, our dietitians and registered nutritionists know that comprehensive health begins with the way you eat every day. With that in mind, we’ve answered some common questions about nutritional plans and the services provided at PMR.
How Can It Help?
Though it’s tempting to view seeing a nutritionist, or developing a nutritional plan, as a last resort in dire circumstances, it shouldn’t be. In fact, most people can find some benefit in setting dietary goals and improving their habits.
At PMR, we emphasize a holistic, comprehensive approach to health, and our dietitians and registered nutritionists support that overall goal. Developing a nutritional plan can help with anything from weight loss to eliminating pain, improving sleep, and protecting the body against disease—the list goes on!
What Does It Involve?
This is a slightly more difficult question, because the answer is different for everyone. We take an individualized approach at PMR, tailoring each treatment plan to the patient’s unique needs and goals. We have both registered nutritionists and dietitians working at our centers, all of whom can assist you in developing a plan. The process may be more or less hands-on, and can take varying lengths of time, depending on your needs.
Can I Handle It?
There’s no question that making a long-term change to your diet and following a nutritional plan isn’t an easy process—but it’s absolutely worth it. It becomes easier with time, and our experts can find ways to work around any personal challenges that you may face. If you have any particular questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call.
Can I Afford It?
If you’re wondering whether or not you can afford professional help with diet and nutrition, you should know that insurance may cover at least some of the costs. In addition, consider how important nutrition is to your overall health—and how much making positive nutritional choices can improve your health in the long term (and save you from future health care costs). Finally, you may be able to save some money by changing your nutritional habits—for example, by buying groceries instead of eating out. Viewed from that perspective, it’s likely an investment worth making.
